About me
Alberto Ortiz Becerril
Freelance technology consultant specialised in Business Intelligence, process automation and custom applications for small and medium-sized businesses.
I came to data by an unusual route: science. I am a chemist by training, I worked in the laboratory and I have contributed to peer-reviewed publications. That is where I learned what I now apply to every project: hypothesis, data and validation, with no shortcuts.
Since then I have built all kinds of things across very different sectors: serverless applications on AWS for logistics, a fraud-detection model for the leisure industry, IoT dashboards for European research projects, ETL pipelines for education and reporting systems that generate and send themselves.
My rule is simple: code is worth nothing unless it solves a measurable problem. That is why every project starts with a business diagnostic and ends with your team being self-sufficient. What I learn along the way I share openly on GitHub, Medium and YouTube (in Spanish), so you can see how I work before hiring me.

Career
I have worked with companies in different sectors, solving real problems with data.
ESP Solutions (Logistics)
International logistics
Serverless applications on the AWS ecosystem, operational dashboards, data analytics, automations and automated reporting for a logistics operation spanning Spain, Europe and Morocco.
CETENMA
Research and technology centre
Participation in European research projects: Power BI dashboards for IoT sensor data, scientific data analysis, invoice automation with Python and energy-efficiency projects based on electricity billing.
Universae
Education
Work on the academic database: source mapping, ETL pipelines, Power BI dashboards and automation of internal processes for decision-making.
Orenes
Entertainment and leisure
Machine-learning fraud-detection model and dashboards to explore and prioritise the cases detected. Business intelligence applied to the entertainment business.
Scientific roots
Before business data came laboratory data. That scientific grounding still shapes how I work.
Chemist by training
Science taught me the method: hypothesis, data and validation. That rigour sits behind every model, every report and every automation I deliver.
Published research
I have contributed to scientific publications, both with my own research and in collaboration with a technology centre. I know what it means to work with data that has to survive peer review.
Laboratories and pharma
I have worked in the laboratory, so I can collaborate as a peer on analytics, traceability and automation for chemical laboratories and pharmaceutical projects.
How I work with you
Four principles I do not negotiate, whatever the project.
Business first
I do not start with the technology, I start with your bottom line: what is costing you time or money and what solving it is worth. The tool is chosen afterwards.
Laboratory rigour
I come from science: hypothesis, data and validation. I measure before and after every change, and you will see the result in the numbers, not in a slide deck.
Code that stays with you
I deliver clean, versioned, documented code and train your team to maintain it. When the project ends you do not need me, and that is good for both of us.
Always current, always in the open
I learn constantly and share it: technical articles, public code and free courses. My work can be audited before you sign anything.
Technology stack
The tools and technologies I use to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
